Do you know why Mobile Phone batteries have Three or Four Terminals ??



All Batteries (DC Sources) have 2 terminals, One for Positive Polarity (+) and Second for Negative Polarity (-) But in most of mobile phone batteries , there are three terminals or four .  why ?

The reason is hidden in the Material which is used to make such batteries. Most of the mobile phone batteries are made of Lithium-ion and Carbon, The mixture of the carbon and Lithium is highly explosive in respect of temperature. Even more than LPG gas mixed with air.
Hence the extra terminals are used to sense the temperature of battery, during charging.
According to present temperature of battery, the appropriate amount of current is supplied to the battery. Hence this is the reason that these batteries have more than two terminals and so they rarely blast.

How to Identify The Resistances and its Ohm's 

The most commonly used part in electronics is the resistance . It is used to control the flow of current in the circuit or to divide the voltage. Resistances are of many types but all those have a common purpose "resist flow of electricity" .

Unit of Resistance :

Unit of Resistance is "Ohms" .  The resistance having more ohms means that it will ceate more opposing force against the electricity.
Due to the fact any opposing thing waste energy, Hence the resistances dissipate heat  and waste the energy.
 But still low loss resistances ie Carbon film resistances  are used. The image containing are the carbon film resistance.

Determination of the Value of Resistance :

Most of the people use Multimeter to determine the resistance of the resistor. But it is not the professional manner to do so , As it wastes time . I am telling you the way how to calculate the resistance manually. If you practice it three or 4 times then it will take less time than the Multimeter method .

step 1 : First Hold the Resistor in Right Position

First of all you have to hold the resistor correctly , for this keep the ring which have a metallic color to the  right side . The metallic color may  be Golden ,Silver etc. 

In the image i have shown the two possible ways of holding a resistor. The part of image written "OK" is the right way.


step 2 : Read Bands according to the table and write the adjacent number



Now using this table you can calculate  any resistance value for a 4 Band  resistor .

NOTE :-  Here it is necessary to remember the colors in order so that the whole table can be recalled at anytime. Just remember the following phrase "BBROYGBVGW" remember this phrase you should remember a sentence "B.B. Roy of Great Britain Has a Very Good Wife"

Setting up a LAB at HOME 


For starting with embedded system engineering or to start learning electronics , first of all you have to create a work environment . As a goldsmith or an blacksmith require an kiln so that  he can easily give shape to the metals he's working upon ,
Hence similarly an embedded system engineer require a lab to learn the things.

A LAB sounds to be extremely expensive .......
No guys its not an chemistry lab that will require chemical jars glass arsenal.
Its a lab for electronics Hobbyists  and can be settled within 2000 Rs.  or simply 45$ .



10 things to buy for setting up a electronics design lab at home




  1. 1st of all you have need workspace.
Workplace doesn't means that a big hall is required  . Fortunately Electronics Design and Assembly (EDA )  requires minimum investment and space  . All you neeed is a small room .

May be 8'x8' room is more than enough for that . 

2. Second a work table 

Some people go for the carpenter and bring some costly tables which are made for mainly office use and for computer.

It is a good idea but these tables are sensitive to burn and hazards. So if u using such table so have an iron sheet with you soo that you can keep your soldering iron  resting on it . I baught my table of 2300 rs ie,46 USD  7 YEARS ago. It have a drawer, a cupboard ,a keyboard stand and well large space to put computer monitor , printer , table lamp etc etc .

3. Soldering Iron
Third thing you need is The Soldering Iron .

  • Soldering  irons ranges from 70 rs to 80000(professional soldering stations) but I am using SIRON  and it is of 150 rs ie. 4 USD.
  • When you are buying an soldering iron ask for an extra thin bit for precise soldering.This can be baught at any radio spare parts shop.

4.Digital Multimeter
4th thing is that you have to Purchase Digital multimeter.
SOME ANALOG AND DIGITAL MULTIMETERES AND TESTERS



  • Most analog multimeters sold today are quite inexpensive, and not necessarily precision test instruments. 
  • I recommend having both digital and analog meter types in your tool collection, spending as little money as possible on the analog multimeter and investing in a good quality digital multimeter (I highly recommend the Fluke brand).

5. Breadboard
Also essential is a solderless breadboard, sometimes called a prototyping board, or protoboard.



  • This device allows you to quickly join electronic components to one another without having to solder component terminals and wires together.


6. Wire stripper cum Nipper


  • 6th thing When working with wire, you need a tool to ”strip” the plastic insulation off the ends so that bare copper metal is exposed. 
  • This tool is called a wire stripper, 
  •  it is a special form of plier with several knife-edged holes in the jaw area sized just right for cutting through the plastic insulation and not the copper, for a multitude of wire sizes, or gauges.




7.Needle Nose Plier


  • Needle-nose pliers are designed to grasp small objects, and are especially useful for pushing wires into stubborn breadboard holes.

8.Wires:-


  • Two types of wires will be needed  theses are Jumper wire spindle and breadboard jumper wires

9.Extension cord


  • 9th  thing Extension chord with at least 5 sockets to connect power supply.





  • Please don't buy Chinese otherwise loose connections and sparking will irritate you . I recommend ANCHOR or Havells and it will cost just 200Rs. Or 4 dollars.


10. Other things:



  1. Schrew driver          Taparia 
  2. Table Lamp             Havells or LED Based
  3. Magnifying Glass    any brand 10x magnification
  4. Tweezers                 Yiking
  5. Drill Machine         Dewalt
Actually these are other things which may be required and I have written the good quality Brand Names.
